Colchester is a town in Essex and is situated 84 miles of Luton airport. This journey normally takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes in normal traffic conditions. It has a population of 155796 according to the 2001 census. It is situated between Braintree and Ipswich and is close to the coast by Clacton on Sea. It is said to be the oldest recorded town in Britain and settlement of the Celts and then the Romans who called it Camulodunum. Open top bus journeys and walking tours provide information on the dramatic events that have taken place in the town throughout history such as Boudicca's famous visit to the town with her army.

Visit the Dutch Quarter in the town which was once home to Dutch refugees fleeing from religious persecution with its collection of historic houses where they lived during the time.
