History of Bristol Airport
In 1927 a few local businessmen raised funds of 6,000 to start a flying club at Filton Aerodome. .
By 1929 the club had been so successful that a decision was made to develop a farm in Whitchurch, Bristol into an airport.
In 1930 Bristol Airport was opened, it was the 3rd Airport to open in the UK.
