The London Borough of Barnet is located Southwest of Stansted Airport a distance of 42 miles that would take around 50 minutes by taxi via the B183 and M25. Being the second largest Borough in London it is situated in the North of the City, forming part of Outer London. Neighbouring boroughs that surround it are Hertfordshire, Harrow, Brent, Camden, Haringey and Enfield. It has a population of 356,400 according to 2011 Statistics.

Dense woodlands were the main feature of the area in the past, particularly where the settlement of Chipping Barnet stands today and no evidence of Roman or Saxons inhabiting the area has been found. The town of Chipping Barnet was founded when the road from London to st Albans was built, and the town is home to Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School for Boys, Tudor Hall. The area Finchley became a focal point for Jewish settlers fleeing from Nazi Persecution which is described in detail in the Jewish Museum there.

The population of the borough increased with the introduction of trams and omnibuses that greatly helped commuters and trading on the Finchley Road. Interesting and inspiring attractions include St Pauls Church built by William Wilberforce a campaigner in the abolishment of Slavery and the statue called La Delivrance situated at Henlys Corner themed upon the First Battle of the Marne and the triumph of human spirit.
