The area that is now London borough of Barnet has a long history from findings of Roman coins and pottery to the Battle of Barnet that took place in 1471 where Yorkist troops led by King Edward IV killed Richard Neville the 'Kingmaker' and Earl of Warwick. To the North of the borough lies Chipping Barnet, Totteridge and Whetstone and to the northwest is Edgware and Mill Hill. To the South is Cricklewood, Colindale, Hendon, Finchley and Golders Green.
