The first recorded uses of the name occur as Slo in 1196,it became a cross roads for peole travelling from London to change horses. During the First World War army vechicles were repaired there till in 1925 the Slough Trading Company Act was passed allowing the establishment of the world's first Industrial Estate. Rapid growth insued, and Slough became a hub of activity.
Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds was made there and Horlicks is also another famous export!
Slough is a major meeting of the ways, with links to the M4, M25, M40, A4, A40 and A355.
The BBC comedy series The Office is set in Slough, and many comtempory comedy references have been made to it. Discenters include; Spike Milligan and Ali G.
