Overview of Leamington Spa

Leamington Spa is a town in Warwickshire and only 16 miles from Birmingham airport. This journey should take about 30 minutes by taxi in normal traffic conditions. From Birmingham airport a direct route into Leamington Spa would be the A452 through Kenilworth. Leamington Spa is only 5 miles from Kenilworth and 12 miles from Stratford Upon Avon.

This historic spa town has a population of 45,114 residents according to the 2001 Census. The town has many attractions for tourists and visitors who can admire the Victorian and Georgian Architecture that characterises the streets and avenues. Many of these buildings surround the famous Royal Pump Rooms which have been used as a museum and library since 1999. In 1784 the local water springs were said to have healing properties and attracted many people to the small town. As a result many of these springs had bath houses built around them and soon after the new town was built.

Alongside the Pump Rooms are the Assembly rooms which with its royal decor are popular for conferences and Weddings,situated nearby are the Jephson Gardens. These victorian styled gardens have been famous for entertainment and more recently for its attractive glass house, seasonal flower displays and boating activities. The elegantly designed Temperate house keeps many varieties of plants flourishing in its climatic environment.

There is the Royal Priors Shopping Centre for retail lovers with a variety of shops to suit a number of tastes. The town itself offers many different types of restaurants including Italian, French Bistro's and English carverys.

Warwickshire College has a number of centres over Warwickshire offering a variety of vocational courses and apprenticeships and is a highly successful college in the area.
