The town of Broxbourne is located Northeast of Heathrow Airport a distance of 45 miles that would take under 1 hour by taxi. It is a town in the Broxbourne Borough of Hertfordshire and has a population of 13,298 according to the 2001 Census. Being only 17.1 miles north north east from Charing Cross London it is known and used as a commuter town. Neighbouring towns include Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Waltham Abbey, the town is near the River Lea which forms the boundary with Essex. It is situated near the M25 which also adds to the ideal location of the town in relatin to London and other areas. The town is know for being the home to the UK's largest printing plant producing print-runs of popular tabloid newspapers.
The history of the town begins from evidence found near Broxbourne Station from a post ice-age camp that would have existed there with nomadic people inhabiting the place during that time. The town is mentioned in the Domesday Book through the description on the Manor that existed there and was held by Stigand the Arch Bishop of Canterbury in the times of Edward the Confessor.
There is plenty to do in the town for visitors including the Paradise Wildlife where you can see all sorts of exotic animal life, Broxbourne Mill, Lee valley White Water Centre and the Speedway Museum. Why not visit Cedars Park in Cheshunt which is on the site of the former Palace of Theobalds, birth place of King Charles I, a beautiful and tranquil place to visit and spend hours walking around and taking in the scenery.
